REPI liquid additives for polyurethanes are mainly used as an aid in the performance and protection of the finished product:
  • improving its resistance to heat;
  • reducing oxidation and protecting it from aging;

Bonding Enhancer

REPITAN BONDING ENHANCER (BE) is the liquid blend of selected additives tailored to improve the adhesion of polyether PU foams to foams, or to paper or textile.
This reactive additive gives to PU foams extraordinary adhesion strength after the flame lamination process.

BE REPITAN helps manufacturers meet strict fogging and VOC emission specifications for flame/heat lamination of polyether foams by reducing total emission levels of finished foams. It might also improve flame behavior properties of PU foams with consequent reduction of the need for flame retardants in the PU formulation. Furthermore, PU Foams containing this additive will generate less smoke in the flame lamination process.

ANTISCORCHING

REPITAN ANTISCORCHING are liquid blends of selected antioxidants and process stabilisers tailored to improve PU foam heat resistance and polyol storage stability giving a strong protection against oxidation.
New Low-Emission formulations are recommended when extra low VOC emissions and Fogging properties are required. They help manufacturers meet the strict specifications for polyether and polyester foams by improving the total emission levels of finished foams.
Particularly indicated to stabilise polyol used in flexible, rigid and semi-rigid PU foams for bedding, furniture and automotive applications, they can be used in combination with REPI UV STABILISERS or WHITE FOAM STABILISERS to further enhance final product properties.
REPI ANTISCORCHING enhance the antiscorching effectiveness of PU foams and give good colour stability minimising the foam discoloration when exposed to NOx and upon exposure to light.

UV Stabilisers

REPI's UV Stabilisers are liquid blends of UV absorbers and anti-oxidants developed to offer improved UV and heat resistance to all PU and TPU applications.
HP-UV REPITAN are recommended for applications such as flexible and rigid PU foam, C.A.S.E. and for automotive & transportation, furniture & bedding, footwear, building & construction, marine & offshore industries.
HP-UV REPITAN are recommended for PU microcellular foams used for footwear applications that require high UV and heat resistance levels. They can be used alone or together with REPI colours. These additives meet the strict light fastness requirements such as the Blue Wool Scale 4 level (ISO 105-B02 test method), including light density PU soles and TPU transparent soles.
HP-UV REPITAN are as well widely recommended in the automotive & transportation industry where the PU integral skin or the PU elastomer parts for interior trim need to meet the strict light fastness requirement Grey Scale 4 level (SAE J2412 test method).
HP-UV REPITAN are also particularly indicated for polyurethane and silane adhesives to minimize the side effects of severe aging and UV weathering (cracking or y yellowing) after extended UV light exposure).

SENZAA REPITAN

Main car manufacturers (OEM) are setting stringent limits related to the maximum VOC and FOG levels allowed in the vehicle interior to minimize the risk of harming consumers. Undesirable carbonyl compounds such as aldehydes can be present and/or formed due to oxidative degradation.
SenzAA™ REPITAN Scavenger minimizes aldehydes such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde smell and VOC/FOG emissions in PU components for automotive interior trim and furniture applications. It is recommended for PU ether, PU ester and PU integral skin foams in combination with REPI colours and where very low emission levels are required. It can be used as a component in the polyol formulation or can be fed in a separate stream directly into the mixing head.

antiFIAMMA MD

The polyurethane foam industry is facing new challenges regarding flame retardants, required to provide reduced toxicity and improved sustainability. With the aim of combining the request for fire safety, impact on health, high performance and easy chemical handling, REPI presents the brand new antiFIAMMA range, a specific line dedicated to selfextinguishing flame retardants. antiFIAMMA REPITAN MELAMINE DISPERSIONS (antiFIAMMA MD) are liquid blends of pure melamine powder dispersed in polyols and tailored to meet the strict fire resistance requirements in the PU flexible foam polyurethane market like the Crib 5 level (BS 5852 test method) in furniture applications, including beds and mattresses which have been tested to pass UK Fire Regulations 1988 or the California Technical Bulletin 117 law published in 2013. antiFIAMMA MD are as well successfully added to PU rigid foams for building and construction applications that need to meet the class B2 fire behavior level (DIN 4102 test method). REPI grinding process of the melamine powder dispersed in polyol greatly enhance the intrinsic fire resistance performance in the final product by increasing the contact surface of the active flame retardant with the polyurethane foam. antiFIAMMA MD show a considerable contribution to the formation of a char layer in the intumescent process. The char layer acts as a physical barrier between oxygen and polymer decomposition gases. At temperature higher than 200 °C, melamine sublimates diluting fuel gases and oxygen near the combustion source. Melamine absorbs a lot of heat, acting as a heat sink in fire situations. Uncontrolled dust suspensions are a recurring issue faced by most operators working with powders. Airborne melamine particle dust can be prevented by using antiFIAMMA MD thus taking a step towards an improved and safer workplace. antiFIAMMA MD are not in airborne form and therefor are safer than powders. They can be used in combination with other flame retardants like TCPP or other halogen free products.

WHITE FOAM STABILISERS

To protect neutral polyurethane flexible foam from photo degradation, oxidation and discoloration, REPITAN WHITE FOAM STABILISERS (WFS REPITAN) delay the effects caused by UV radiation and provide additional anti yellowing effect.
With WFS REPITAN, neutral PU flexible foams will become whiter and brighter, thus gaining the appeal of a premium foam.
They can be used as a component in the polyol formulation or can be fed in a separate stream directly into the mixing head.
An even brighter effect can be obtained by combining these additives with REPITAN OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS (OB REPITAN).

ANTISTATIC ADDITIVES

Electrostatic charging is a challenging matter in PU production, especially in areas with risk of explosion or in the electronics industry. PU parts can build up electrostatic charge and dust. REPITAN HP ANTISTATIC ADDITIVE (HP-A REPITAN) is a medium polarity ionic liquid specifically tailored to improve conductivity properties of microcellular PU and TPU shoe soles, PU composite, PU coatings and C.A.S.E. applications. HP-A REPITAN shows a very good compatibility with polyether and polyester polyols. In footwear applications, including the light density PU soles, HP-A REPITAN is tailored to meet the strict and challenging requirement of ESD safety standard (electrical resistance maximum 35 mega Ohm). Important application for HP-A REPITAN are PU cast elastomers and PU composites for electronics parts where the market requires very low levels of electrical resistance combined with high levels of hardness. Using the HP-A REPITAN, customers are able to minimize the antistatic loading and consequently the hardness decreasing effect.

OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS

REPI OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS are organic additives that absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit most of the absorbed energy in the visible spectrum to yield a brighter and fresher appearance to PU applications.
They are particularly tailored to brighten flexible foam, rigid foam and C.A.S.E. for use in Automotive and Transportation, Furniture and Bedding, Footwear, Building and Construction, Marine and Offshore industries.
Suitable for application on neutral, white and coloured foams, they can be used as component in the polyol formulation or can be fed in a separate stream directly into the mixing head.
